“I’m A Virgo”
“Sorry To Bother You” filmmaker Boots Riley returns with his first TV series, “I’m A Virgo” is a darkly-comedic fantastical coming-of-age joyride about Cootie (Jharrel Jerome from “When They See Us”), a 13-foot-tall young Black man in Oakland, CA. Having grown up hidden away, passing time on a diet of comic books and TV shows, he escapes to experience the beauty and contradictions of the real world. The series ensemble cast also includes Brett Gray, Kara Young, Allius Barnes, Olivia Washington, Mike Epps, and Carmen Ejogo.
“Swarm”
From co-creators and executive producers Janine Nabers and Donald Glover, “Swarm” follows Dre (Dominique Fishback from “Judas and the Black Messiah”), an obsessed fan of the world’s biggest pop star who sets off on an unexpected cross-country journey. Chloë Bailey (“Grown-ish”) and Damson Idris (“Snowfall”) co-star.
“Mustache”
Forced out of his cushy Islamic private school and thrown into a public school with non-Muslim kids, a 13-year-old Pakistani-American suffers through life with his inescapable pre-pubescent mustache. Directed and written by Imran J. Khan, “Mustache” stars Atharva Verma, Rizwan Manji, Alicia Silverstone, Hasan Minhaj, Meesha Shafi, and Ayana Manji.
“Another Body”
Featured in the Documentary Feature Competition, “Another Body” follows a college student and her search for justice after she discovers deepfakes of herself online. Directed by Sophie Compton and Reuben Hamlyn.
“Bloody Hell”
An exploration of a teenage girl’s relationship with everyone in her life and herself after she is diagnosed with a reproductive condition that upends her plans to have sex and forces her to explore unusual methods to have a sex life. Starring Maddie Ziegler, Emily Hampshire, Djouliet Amara, Ki Griffin, and D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Ta. “Bloody Hell” is written and directed by Molly McGlynn.
