So here it is, the first trailer for the Nicolas Winding Refn produced remake of his debut film "Pusher" and…well, it's big, bright, sleek and kind of empty.
Starring Richard Coyle and model-turned-actress Agyness Deyn, the film is a familiar tale of a guy who has a deal go bad, and winds up owing some money to drug dealers who blah blah blah. The problem here is that Brit cinema is overstuffed with movies that look exactly like this with hard lads, beautiful girls and vaguely accented villains all in a downward spiral with illegal substances at the center (and as our commenters point out, that's Zlatko Buric reprising his role from the original pic). While Refn does lend his name to the film, none of his flourishes or even his thumbprint is really felt here. Director Luis Prieto seems to be doing a workmanlike job (though the cinematography does stand out), but we're pretty sure we've watched this on DVD a few times already.
If there is one shining highlight, it seems that score from Orbital will be one worth tracking down. Anyhow, take a look below.
