40. “Long Bright River”
Based on Liz Moore’s eponymous book, this suspense thriller follows a Philadelphia police officer searching for her sister, an opioid addict who has gone missing. Amanda Seyfried stars in the lead role, alongside Ashleigh Cumming, Callum Vinson, John Doman, and Dash Mihok. Moore adapted her book alongside Nikki Toscano (“The Offer,” “Hunters”), with both serving as showrunners.
Premiere Date: TBD via Peacock.
39. “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man”
Created by Jeff Trammell, this long-in-the-works animated series examines Peter Parker’s origin story anew in an alternate timeline and reimagines Norman Osbourne (aka the Green Goblin) as Parker’s Tony Stark-like mentor. Hudson Thames, who voices Spider-Man in “What If…?,” reprises the role here, and the voice ensemble also features Colman Domingo, Eugene Byrd, Grace Song, Zeno Robinson, Hugh Dancy, Charlie Cox, Kari Wahlgren, Paul F. Tompkins, and Charlie Cox as Daredevil among other MCU characters.
Premiere Date: January 29, 2025 on Disney+.
38. “The White Lotus” (Season 3)
It’s interesting to remember that “The White Lotus” was supposed to be a one-and-done limited series, but such a popular hit HBO convinced creator/writer/director Mike White to turn it into an anthology series, with luxury hotels all over the world and the colorful, quirky people that stay there. Season three continues the shenanigans in Thailand this time with a sprawling cast that includes Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Michelle Monaghan, Leslie Bibb, Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, Lisa from BLACKPINK, Dom Hetrakul, and Dom Hetrakul.
Release Date: February via HBO.
37. “Wednesday” (Season 2)
Tim Burton’s gothic coming-of-age supernatural mystery returns for a season two, continuing several threads, including a revelation that Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) has a stalker. Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, Fred Armisen, and Steve Buscemi all reprise their roles from season one, and new players include Lady Gaga, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter and more. Burton once again returns to direct the first half of the series.
Premiere Date: TBD via Netflix, but filming just wrapped, so probably no earlier than mid-summer.
36. “Ironheart”
After a rather quiet 2024, Marvel comes roaring back with a vengeance in 2025 with several shows. Created by Chinaka Hodge, “Ironheart” centers on Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) following the events of ‘Wakanda Forever.’ A story centering on technology vs. magic, the cast includes Anthony Ramos as The Hood, Lyric Ross, and Alden Ehrenreich, and in something of apparently a secret role, Sacha Baron Cohen appears at some point, too.
Premiere Date: June 24, 2025, via Disney+.
35. “Young Sherlock”
Guy Ritchie doesn’t just shoot (and sometimes release) about two films a year; he also somehow fits in directing a series, too. Having already directed two “Sherlock Holmes” films, his latest is a version of the younger detective, centering on the character as a 19-year-old who finds himself entangled in a murder at Oxford that jeopardizes his freedom. It’s a bit of a family affair too. Hero Fiennes Tiffin stars as young Sherlock, his uncle Joseph Fiennes plays his father, and the cast also includes Zine Tseng, Natascha McElhone, Dónal Finn, Max Irons, and Colin Firth. Ritchie also apparently directed all eight episodes.
Airdate: TBD via Amazon Prime Video.

34. “The Plot”
A literary theft drama described as a gripping cat-and-mouse story, “The Plot” centers on a struggling author, Jake (Mahershala Ali), who is primed to take advantage of any opportunity that might help revive his career. The eight-episode limited series is from Disney’s Onyx Collective, and Ali exec produces alongside Mimi Valdés and Amatus Karim.
Airdate: TBD via Hulu.
33. “Untamed”
It’s been a bit of a minute since we saw Eric Bana in a big, meaty, mainstream role, but he gets just that in a wilderness mystery thriller created by Mark L. Smith (“The Revenant”) and Elle Smith (“The Marsh King’s Daughter”). The series follows Bana as a National Parks Service special agent who collides with dark secrets from his past when investigating a brutal murder. Sam Neill, Rosemarie DeWitt, Lily Santiago, and Wilson Bethel also star.
Premiere Date: TBD via Netflix.
32. “Wonder Man”
A surprise entry for 2025, the “Wonder Man” series will arrive at year’s end. Created by “Shang-Chi” filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton and its showrunner Andrew Guest (“Hawkeye”), the show is purportedly more of a comedy following the titular character as a struggling actor in Hollywood. How does any of that apply to a superhero story? That’s currently unknown. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II stars as Simon Williams/Wonder Man alongside Ben Kingsley (reprising his ‘Shang Chi’ role), Demetrius Grosse, and Ed Harris. Cretton directs along with Stella Meghie, James Ponsoldt, and more.
Premiere Date: December via Disney+.
31. “His & Hers”
A twisty psychological mystery thriller based on Alice Feeney’s novel of the same name, the story centers on a murder investigation from two perspectives: a TV anchorwoman and a detective, both of whom become entangled in the case as suspects. Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal star, along with Pablo Schreiber, Crystal Fox, Sunita Mani, Rebecca Rittenhouse, and many more. Dee Johnson (“Fellow Travelers”) showruns, William Oldroyd (“Eileen”) directs the first episode, and Jessica Chastain executive produces.
Airdate: TBD via Netflix.
