‘The Batman Part II’: Sebastian Stan Reportedly Misquoted In Interview Confirming Harvey Dent Role

You may have seen the recent interview with actor Sebastian Stan with the French outlet Le Journal du Dimanche, where he and “Fjord” co-star Renate Reinsve were promoting the award-winning family drama, seemingly confirming that he was playing a new iteration of Gotham District Attorney Harvey Dent in Matt Reeves‘ “The Batman Part II.” Something that had long been suspected and egged on by various internet scoopers/sluthes; however, that juicy tidbit has been removed from the original article, and there is now a report claiming Stan was misquoted entirely.

The Wrap, which usually has a good track record with DC film/TV items like these, quotes two “insider sources” who say Stan was, in fact, simply misquoted; notably, the French outlet did remove that Harvey Dent “confirmation” line from its piece. I guess chalk this one up to an overzealous outlet/interviewer.

With that in mind, they didn’t flat-out refute that Stan is playing Dent (who becomes the dastardly gangland figure Two-Face) in the sequel, so that should be something to consider. There had been rumors that other roles might be on the table, such as a reworked version of Hush (Dr. Thomas Elliot), often seen with a bandaged face similar to the Sam Raimi character Darkman, and the longstanding theory that the Court of Owls would show up in Reeves’ films. Until we have concrete confirmation from the studio, James Gunn is always on Threads, ready to debunk rumors; we should just keep an open mind.

“The Batman Part II” is currently filming overseas with Robert Pattinson (next seen in “Primetime“) back in the cape/cowl alongside a supporting cast that features Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Brian Tyree-Henry, Charles Dance, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell, Gil Perez-Abraham, Sebastian Koch, Jayme Lawson, and more.

Distributor Warner Bros. has given the DC Comics sequel a release date of February 18, 2028, which is fitting given the pic is set during the season of winter (something we haven’t seen as the main beat of one of these films since “Batman Returns“).
