As “The Walking Dead” approaches the end of its eleventh and final season, questions abound as to what long-time cast members will do now that the show is over. In the case of Jeffrey Dean Morgan, he’s already settled the matter. Morgan and Lauren Cohan reprise their roles as Negan and Maggie in the upcoming spin-off, “Dead City,” where the two characters fend for themselves in a zombie-manifested Manhattan.
Deadline reports that Morgan now has another upcoming project: Season 4 of Amazon‘s “The Boys,” where he has a recurring guest role. No details yet on who Morgan will play, but expect it to be significant. The actor and “Boys” showrunner Erik Kripke know each other well from their time together on CW‘s “Supernatural,” where Morgan played John Winchester.
Kripke recently talked to E! News about getting Morgan involved in Season 4 of “The Boys.” “Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a superfan of the show, so he and I are talking. We’re trying to figure out something for season four. Nothing finalized yet, but he and I are chatting and e-mailing and seeing it we can make it work with his busy schedule. So, stay tuned on that.” Well, Kripke and Morgan have finalized something, and given “The Boys,” expect the actor to play a character as volatile and sinister as Negan at his worst in the superhero satire.
Beyond “The Walking Dead” and “Dead City,” Morgan also did “Friday Night With The Morgans” for AMC during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Other small-screen credits include “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Magic City,” and “Weeds.” As for the big screen, in recent years, Morgan has starred in “Rampage” with Dwayne Johnson, “Walkaway Joe,” “The Postcard Killings,” and “The Unholy.”
“The Boys” cast and crew just returned to Toronto for production this month, so expect Season 4 of the show out on Prime Video next summer.
