No, Lady Gaga‘s film career didn’t end with “Joker: Folie á Deux.” Variety reports that the pop music icon will appear in the upcoming sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada.” Expect it to be more of a cameo than a starring role, however, as Gaga will do the role amid her ongoing Mayhem Ball Tour.

Fans spotted the singer in Milan this week after Gaga’s four sold-out performances at London’s O2 arena, where “The Devil Wears Prada 2” is currently shooting. Whatever Gaga’s part is in the sequel, she’ll need to shoot it fast, as the next stop on the Mayhem Ball tour is Avicii Arena in Stockholm on Sunday night.
Official plot details for “The Devil Wears Prada 2” aren’t confirmed yet, but Anne Hathway returns as Andrea “Andy” Sachs from the 2006 film, as does Meryl Streep‘s witchy Miranda Priestly. Emily Blunt stars in the sequel as a one-time assistant to Miranda who’s now a high-powered exec for a luxury group, and Streep’s character needs her advertising. How Hathaway plays into all of this remains unclear; her character quit the fashion industry for a newspaper job at the end of the original film, but apparently that didn’t last.
Based on a 2003 novel by Lauren Weisberger, “The Devil Wears Prada” was a massive hit for 20th Century Fox, so why did it take 20 years to make a sequel? In any case, David Frankel and Aline Brosh McKenna return to write and driect the upcoming continuation. New cast members this time around include Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, and Simone Ashley. Stanley Tucci, Tibor Feldman, and Tracie Thomas also return to reprise their roles from the 2006 film.
As for what Lady Gaga will be up to in “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” that remains to be seen. Perhaps we’ll find out before the sequel hits theaters next year on May 1, 2026.
