Season 2 of “The Gentlemen” still won’t premiere on Netflix for another couple of weeks, but a rumor is already circulating about a splashy casting for the show’s potential third season. Deadline reports that Meghan Markle may join the cast of Guy Ritchie‘s crime series as part of her bid to return to acting. It’s worth noting the Duchess of Sussex already has a steady relationship with Netflix with various reality TV series through her first-look deal with the streamer, “With Love, Meghan” being the latest.

Of course, Markle’s casting remains hypothetical, despite active talks with Ritchie, as “The Gentlemen” still hasn’t been greenlit for S3. But if it does happen, it’ll be quite the stunt casting. The potential casting comes on the heels of Markle and Prince Harry announcing earlier this week the couple would return to live in the UK after spending the past six years in California.
Markle’s recent credits are almost entirely in reality TV, but she’s no stranger to small-screen roles; her biggest role to date was a series regular on “Suits.” Other recent onscreen appearances for the actress include a cameo in the Amazon MGM Studios film “Close Personal Friends,” and a guest spot on “MasterChef Australia.”
“The Gentlemen” S2 premieres on Netflix on September 3, with the new season picking up a year after Theo James‘ Eddie and Kaya Scodelario‘s Susie joined forces working for Ray Winstone‘s Bobby in his criminal empire. The new episodes see the pair beginning to question Bobby’s unsound business sense, leaving the foundations of their enterprise insecure. Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, Jasmine Blackborrow, Michael Vu, Harry Goodwins, and others are among the ensemble cast.
Ritchie serves as creator and writer on “The Gentlemen” with Matthew Read. He also directs the series with Eran Creevy. Executive producers on the series include Ritchie, Will Gould, Frith Tiplady, Simon Crawford Collins, and Ivan Atkinson. Laura Jackson and Max Keene produce.
So, will Markle join James and Scodelario on a future season of “The Gentlemen”? Let’s see if Netflix greenlights a third season first. Watch a trailer for the new season below.
