According to scooper Jeff Sneider (and confirmed by the trades), Jeremy Allen White is set to join the “Star Wars” universe to voice Rotta the Hutt in “The Mandalorian and Grogu.” It’s unclear how much of a role White has in “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” but obviously, it’s only a voice role.

Without boring people with details, Rotta the Hutt has already appeared in “Star Wars” media. He’s the son of Jabba the Hutt, who was killed in “Return of the Jedi.” Rotta appeared in the ‘Clone Wars’ animated series as a young child. But when you take into account the timeline of “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” Rotta will have grown into adulthood by now.

As mentioned, White is probably best known for his work on FX on Hulu’s “The Bear.” He broke out in a big way earlier than that, on the Showtime series, “Shameless.” Just last year, he also appeared in the film, “The Iron Claw.” But perhaps his most anticipated new role is as Bruce Springsteen in Scott Cooper’s film, “Deliver Me From Nowhere.”

“The Mandalorian and Grogu” is set to be the first “Star Wars” film to be released in theaters since 2019’s ‘Rise of Skywalker.’ The new film is directed by Jon Favreau, who cowrote the script alongside Dave Filoni. The film is set to arrive in theaters on May 22, 2026.
