The past year has been pretty great for filmmaker Osgood Perkins. His 2024 film, “Longlegs,” was not only a critical darling, but it also did incredibly well at the box office. It would appear the film now has secured high status amongst horror fans. Now, just months later, Perkins has yet another film coming with “The Monkey.” And judging by the recent “festive gift” released by Perkins, it looks like “The Monkey” is going to be yet another fun time at the movies.

Titled “A Festive Gift from Osgood Perkins and ‘The Monkey,’” the newest clip from the upcoming horror film gives a good indication about the tone of the film. This doesn’t look like it’s going to be a dark, dreary film. Instead, it appears “The Monkey” is going to have a lot of fun with its over-the-top kills.

The new clip follows a woman as she wakes up in the middle of the night because of some noise. As she walks around with a comically huge gun, she stumbles into a variety of hazards before setting her entire head on fire. If it sounds silly, you’re not wrong. The clip actually makes it even sillier.
Now, if you’re a fan of “Longlegs” and the darkness of that film, perhaps this will be a bit of tonal whiplash with “The Monkey.” But considering this is a film about a cursed children’s toy, you probably shouldn’t be expecting something truly dark.
We won’t truly know what to expect until we sit down and watch “The Monkey” in theaters. The film is set to arrive on February 21, 2025. You can watch the full clip below.
