According to Deadline, Tom Holland has signed on to star in “The Partner,” a new adaptation of the 1997 John Grisham novel of the same name. The film is said to follow a young lawyer who fakes his death and steals millions of dollars from a crooked client. But when that client figures out he’s not dead, the lawyer finds himself hunted down, having to reckon with his choices. The script is said to be written by Graham Moore, who is best known for writing “The Imitation Game.”
As mentioned, Holland has lined up a very busy 2025. He’s set to star in the aforementioned “The Odyssey,” which is the next blockbuster from Christopher Nolan. Then after that, he’s set to start work on ‘Spider-Man 4.’ And then you have to imagine he’s going to do some work in the first of the next two ‘Avengers’ films from the Russo Brothers. So, when he’s going to be able to fit in “The Partner” is still up in the air.
John Grisham is no stranger to having his work adapted for the big screen. There was a run in the ‘90s when so many of his books were being turned into films. Some Grisham classics include “A Time to Kill,” “The Firm,” “The Pelican Brief,” “The Rainmaker,” and “The Client.” But it’s really been a minute since the author has found one of his novels get turned into an A-list film project.
It’s still too soon to know when we might see “The Partner” arrive in theaters.
