It’s unclear if and when an in-person TCA Awards ceremony will ever happen again, but the Television Critics Association unveiled the winners of the 2025 honors, and a popular drama series ruled the list. Not only did “The Pitt” win Outstanding Achievement in Drama, Outstanding New Program, and Individual Achievement in Drama (Noah Wyle), but it also took the prestigious Program of the Year award. A big day for the HBO Max breakout.
Other winners include Apple TV+’s “The Studio” for Outstanding Achievement in Comedy, Netflix’s “Adolescence” for Outstanding Achievement in Movies, Miniseries or Specials, Peacock’s “The Traitors” repeated in Reality, and HBO’s “Pee-wee as Himself” in News and Information. NBC’s “SNL50: The Anniversary Special” won the Variety, Talk or Sketch category. HBO’s “Sesame Street” won the Children’s Programming award while Disney+ and the BBC’s seemingly in limbo “Doctor Who” won Family Programming for the second straight year.
The most pleasant surprise was Bridget Everett taking the trophy for Individual Achievement in Comedy for HBO’s “Somebody Somewhere.” For those hoping the series can make a comeback in a fourth season, or perhaps a movie, every win helps the cause.
In a statement, TCA President Andy Dehnart noted, “Each of these TCA Award winners not only entertained us, but also immersed us in the lives of characters, both fictional and real-life. We’re thrilled to honor them. TCA exists to support our members’ work and celebrate TV’s role in our culture, and with these awards and accompanying videos, we’re doing both.”
The Television Critics’ Association is made up of 235 professional television journalists, critics, and editors throughout the United States and Canada, including this particular writer.
