And now for something completely different for “Sing Sing” star Colman Domingo. Deadline reports that the actor will play the host of the titular game show in Edgar Wright‘s upcoming Stephen King remake “The Running Man.” It’s a juicy role for Domingo: the sleazy face of television’s most sadistic program; you better believe he’ll tap into his “Zola” role from 2021 for this one.

Domingo joins leading man Glen Powell, Josh Brolin, Karl Glusman, Katy O’Brian, and Daniel Ezra on the cast sheet for the upcoming film. Emilia Jones, William H. Macy, Sean Hayes, and David Zayas also star. Based on an early “Richard Bachman” novel by King, Powell stars as a man who signs up to participate on the world’s deadliest TV show to win money that will save his sick daughter’s life. The premise of the game? Evade assassins sent to kill him before a timer runs out. Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in the 1987 version of the film, with Richard Dawson in a villain role that’s now Domingo’s.
Wright co-writes his version of “The Running Man” with Michael Bacall. He also leads producers with partner Nira Park and Simon Kingberg. George Linder will executive produce the film. “The Running Man” is a Paramount Pictures production.
Domino is coming off arguably the strongest year of his acting career, with turns in “Sing Sing,” “Drive-Away Dolls,” and “The Madness.” His role in “Sing Sing” nabbed him a Golden Globe nomination, and he’ll likely receive the same at this year’s Oscars. Up next for Domingo beyond “The Running Man?” “The Electric State,” which debuts on Netflix later this year, as well as Steven Spielberg‘s 2026 blockbuster. He’s also part of the cast of the upcoming Netflix limited series “The Four Seasons.”
“The Running Man” is in production now, and currently has a theatrical release date of November 7, 2025.
