Earlier this year, folks were obsessed over the Apple TV+ ads featuring Timothee Chalamet, which basically feature the actor lamenting over the fact that nearly every A-list actor has a project in the works for the streamer except him. Well, poor Timmy isn’t going to be happy to learn that Jessica Chastain is the latest to get an Apple TV+ project.
According to THR, Jessica Chastain is set to star in and produce a new Apple TV+ series titled “The Savant.” The show is based on a Cosmopolitan article from writer Andrea Stanley about the true story of a person, called the Savant, who is an investigator tasked with taking down violent criminals before they’re able to commit the attacks they’re planning. Of course, the details of the series are under wraps, but you can definitely see, based on that description, where Chastain might fit in and what the show might be about.
Chastain is no stranger to TV projects. Over the last couple of years, the actress has starred in projects such as “George & Tammy,” as well as the HBO series, “Scenes From a Marriage.” Her role in the “George & Tammy” limited series earned Chastain a Screen Actors Guild Award win as well as a Golden Globe nomination.
Matthew Heineman is apparently on board to executive produce and direct the series. Heineman is an award-winning documentary filmmaker. He has also dabbled in narrative filmmaking with his 2018 film, “A Private War.” Melissa James Gibson, who is best known for series such as “The Americans” and “Anatomy of a Scandal,” is attached as the showrunner.
It’s unclear when production might begin on “The Savant.” Regardless, this is yet another major “get” for Apple TV+, as the streaming service continues to grow.
