‘The Tutor’ Trailer: ‘Stranger Things’ Star Noah Schnapp Is A Student Obsessed With His Teacher Garrett Hedlund

The Tutor,” directed by Jordan Ross, finds Ethan (Garrett Hedlund), a highly coveted tutor amongst powerful families, is offered a lucrative $2500 a day to take Jackson (Noah Schnapp) as a new pupil; he immediately jumps at the opportunity. Ethan and his girlfriend Annie (Victoria Justice) are expecting their first child, making this avenue towards financial stability more than enticing—it’s necessary. However, Jackson isn’t weird the way we imagine most rich kids are weird. What begins as a working relationship permeated by “strange vibes,” as Ethan describes them, quickly turns into something more sinister. Jackson begins stalking Ethan, creepily showing up at his home after hours and the restaurants he and Annie frequent. “The Tutor” promises a thrilling story defined by dark obsessions and motivations, leading to a situation that has the potential to ruin Ethan’s life for good.

Written by Ryan King, “The Tutor” is the first film directed by Jordan Ross since “Thumper,” released in 2017. “Thumper” focused on a group of low-income teenagers working for a dangerous drug dealer. Their life is then turned upside down with the arrival of a new and mysterious girl. With these two films, it is apparent that Ross has an interest in the intimate lives of those living at the highest and lowest echelons of American society.

The cast for “The Tutor” features Garrett Hedlund, best known for his work in “Tron: Legacy,” Victoria Justice, who has carved out a career for herself both as an actor and pop musician, and Noah Schnapp, best known for playing Will Byers on the Netflix sensation “Stranger Things.”

“The Tutor” will hit theaters on March 24 courtesy of Vertical Entertainment.
