'The Wave' Trailer: Justin Long Experiences A Bad Trip In The Psychedelic Film Coming To Fantastic Fest

Often, films will show that someone is high through the use of weird camera angles and perhaps a few odd blurring effects. However, in the upcoming Fantastic Fest film, “The Wave,” once our lead character gets high, the entire film changes into this psychedelic trip that aims to echo the weirdest dreams you’ve ever experienced.

In the new trailer for “The Wave,” we learn that the film follows a young lawyer named Frank that is peer-pressured into taking an illicit drug from a shady man wearing a fur coat. From there, his whole world changes, as he begins to increasingly hallucinate more and more. This leads Frank on a quest to find out what drug he took and where the dealer is now. Oh yeah, and he has to navigate his typical workday and social life. Not the easiest thing in the world for someone that is barely holding onto his own sanity.

Here’s the synopsis:

Frank (Justin Long), an opportunistic insurance lawyer, thinks he’s in for the time of his life when he goes out on the town to celebrate a soon-to-be promotion with his co-worker, Jeff (Donald Faison), but their night takes a turn for the worst when Frank is dosed with a hallucinogen that alters his perception and changes his life forever. He is thrown into a psychedelic quest through board meetings, nightclubs, shootouts, and alternate dimensions. As Frank ping-pongs across reality, he finds himself on a mission to find a missing girl, himself… and his wallet.
