'They Will Kill You': Zazie Beetz To Star In Dark Comedy Horror From New Line & Nocturna Pictures

What’s new with Zazie Beetz? According to THR, the actress will star in “They Will Kill You,” a new horror film which sees New Line team up with new label Nocturna Pictures, the genre banner created by Skydance and Andy & Barbara Muschietti. It’ll be Beetz’s first horror pic since 2019’s little-seen “Wounds.”

But what’s “They Will Kill You” about? Beetz stars in the dark comedy horror as a woman who answers a help wanted ad for a housekeeper in a mysterious NYC high-rise, not realizing she’s about to enter a community that’s seen a number of disappearances over the years. “Why Don’t You Just Die!” director Kirill Sokolov will direct the film, and co-writes the script with “Predators” scribe Alex Litvak. Production on the film starts in South Africa in mid-September.

“They Will Kill You” has some heavy hitters on its production team, too.  David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger produce through Skydance, while the Muschiettis and Dan Kagan, who’s behind the recent horror hit “Longlegs,” do so through Nocturna. Other Nocturna team includes Russell Ackerman and John Schoenfelder. Sokolov, Litvak, and Carl Hampe also serve as executive producers.

New Line and the Muschiettis have had success together before in the “IT” franchise. The two-part Stephen King adaptation is one of New Line’s two billion-dollar horror franchise (James Wan‘s “The Conjuring” universe is the other), with 2017’s “IT” becoming the highest-grossing horror movie of all time during its theatrical run. So to say a new team-up between this team could be lucrative is an understatement. But let’s see who else joins Beetz on the cast list for “They Will Kill You” before any big predictions.

This one sounds intriguing, though: “Rosemary’s Baby” meets “Ready Or Not,” or something like that. Expect “They Will Kill You” to hit theaters sometime next year.
