We’ve all seen this premise before—a woman is alone at home, looking out of her window. She suddenly notices a violent crime happening in her neighbor’s house. When she calls the cops, it seems as if the woman is crazy. But what if she’s not crazy? Dun, dun, dunnnnnnnn. And so goes this type of thriller. And so goes the beginning of the new Netflix satire, “The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window.”
As the title makes abundantly clear, the new Netflix thriller takes a darkly comedic view of the classic “Rear Window”-esque murder mystery. The premise is the same. The way it is shot is very similar to plenty of other films. But in this case, we have Kristen Bell, doing her comedic best to poke fun at the tropes just a little bit.
Joining Kristen Bell in the cast are Michael Ealy, Tom Riley, Mary Holland, Cameron Britton, Samsara Yett, Christina Anthony, and Benjamin Levy Aguilar. The comedy series is co-created by Rachel Ramras, Hugh Davidson, and Larry Dorf.
“The Woman in the House Across The Street From the Girl in the Window” debuts on Netflix on January 28. You can watch the teaser below.
Here’s the synopsis:
For heartbroken Anna (Kristen Bell), every day is the same. She sits with her wine, staring out the window, watching life go by without her. But when a handsome neighbor (Tom Riley) and his adorable daughter (Samsara Yett) move in across the street, Anna starts to see a light at the end of the tunnel. That is until she witnesses a gruesome murder… Or did she?
