The film hails from director Luis Prieto and writer David Loughery. It was a challenging project for Prieto, which made it all the more interesting for the filmmaker. “From the moment I read the script, I loved the creative challenges and opportunities that ‘Shattered’ presented,” the director said. “Taking the audience on a journey from all the excitement and passion of a romance at the start of the film, to an all-out thriller by its conclusion was a big attraction for me, and when talent of the level of John and Frank came in to support Lilly and Cameron.”

Loughery comes to the project with an extensive set of credits — including the story for 1984’s “Dreamscape” and co-writing the thriller “Lakeview Terrace.” Next up for the writer is “End of the Road” starring Queen Latifah, Beau Bridges, and Ludacris. That film is set for a 2022 release.

The film’s official synopsis:

“In the tradition of “Fatal Attraction” and “Basic Instinct” comes this dazzling action-thriller starring Academy Award® nominee John Malkovich (“RED”) and Frank Grillo (“Avengers: Endgame”). After lonely tech millionaire Chris (Cameron Monaghan, “Shameless”) encounters charming, sexy Sky (Lilly Krug), passion grows between them – and when he’s injured, she quickly steps in as his nurse. But Sky’s odd behavior makes Chris suspect that she has more sinister intentions, especially when Sky’s roommate is found dead from mysterious causes.”

“Shattered” hits select theaters and On Demand on January 14. It comes to Blu-ray and DVD weeks later on February 22. Watch the film’s trailer below.
