Over the past 20+ years, filmmaker Jonathan Glazer has only released a total of 3 films, with his last one being 2013’s “Under the Skin, a film that is often regarded as one of the best of the 2010s. So, needless to say, folks are really excited to see the long-awaited WWII drama, “The Zone of Interest,” Glazer’s upcoming film, which has finally been given an official release date.
According to A24, the studio is set to release “The Zone of Interest” on December 8 in the United States. This puts the film firmly in the awards season window, where it is expected to be in the discussion for many different awards. Written and directed by Glazer, based on the novel by Martin Amis, “The Zone of Interest” tells the story of an Auschwitz commandant hoping to build a dream life for his family while living next to the camp. To go along with the release date announcement, A24 also released some new images from the film.
“The Zone of Interest” stars Christian Friedel and Sandra Hüller. The drama made its debut at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, where it earned near-universal acclaim (currently sitting at 96% on Rotten Tomatoes), with many already talking about awards season prospects.

Another work of Glazer’s full of images that may haunt you for weeks. And well worth almost the decade it took to get here.”
“The Zone of Interest” will arrive in theaters on December 8. You can see the first-look photos below.
