‘This Fool’ Season 2 Trailer: Chris Estrada’s Latinx South Central LA Hulu Comedy Returns July 28

Wake up and smell the coffee… “This Fool” is back for season two on Hulu. While it may not be the most well-known series on TV yet, the critically-acclaimed comedy returns on Friday, July 28, with a whole lot of Mugs, Not Thugs. Wait, what even is the series, you ask?

It’s a South Central, Los Angeles comedy from a Latinx perspective from comedian Chris Estrada, who is the show’s creator, star, executive producer, and writer.

The show originally premiered in 2022, and the series is inspired by the life and stand-up of Estrada. It centers on Julio Lopez (played by Estrada), a “punk ass bitch” with a heart of gold who goes out of his way to help everyone by himself. It explores Julio’s attempts to better his community, overcome his codependency issues with his family and navigate working-class life in South Central Los Angeles. The show also stars Michael Imperioli, Frankie Quinones, Laura Patalano, Michelle Ortiz, and Julia Vera.

Here’s the season two synopsis:

“This Fool” is an irreverent, cinematic half-hour comedy set in working-class South Central Los Angeles. After Julio’s job and love life blew up at the end of last season, this season, new roommates Julio and Luis embark on finding new careers and romances with the help of Minister Payne, Chef Percy, and other former Huggers.

“This Fool” stars Chris Estrada (“Julio”), Frankie Quinones (“Luis”), Laura Patalano (“Esperanza”), Julia Vera (“Maria”), Michael Imperioli (“Minister Payne”), Michelle Ortiz (“Maggie”), and Ivana Rojas (“Ruby“). 

“This Fool” is written and executive produced by Chris Estrada, Pat Bishop, Jake Weisman, and Matt Ingebretson. Jonathan Groff and Fred Armisen also serve as executive producers on the series. ABC Signature produces the Hulu Original comedy series.
