Got a Tip?

Tilda Swinton Isn’t Going To Star In The ‘Parasite’ Series & Is Happy To Be A “Cheerleader”

Tilda Swinton is one of those actors who brings automatic respect to whatever she works on. It could be a commercial for toilet cleaner and people would still talk about the artistic merit. She’s just that good. So, whenever she drops out of a project, there’s always a bit of sadness, especially when the project is as anticipated as the HBO adaptation of “Parasite.”

According to an interview with Variety, it appears that Tilda Swinton is no longer attached to HBO’s series adaptation of Bong Joon Ho’s “Parasite.” Originally announced as part of the cast shortly after the series was revealed, Tilda Swinton hasn’t talked much about the project. Honestly, there hasn’t been much talk about the project, in general, over the past year. Well, maybe that’s for a good reason, as it appears Swinton is no longer involved.

“I don’t think I’ll be a part of it, but I’m very happy to be a cheerleader,” said Swinton.

The “Parasite” series is produced by Adam McKay and Bong Joon Ho, but not much is known about the plot. It doesn’t seem like it would be a direct adaptation of the film, but maybe something else entirely. The series is expected to star Mark Ruffalo, but again, it’s unsure what the status of the show is at this point, anyway.

Hopefully, the buzz around the series hasn’t waned enough for HBO to put the kibosh on the adaptation. As much as it seems insane to want to bring “Parasite” to American audiences as a limited series, it is something that could have worked with the right people attached. People like Ruffalo and Swinton.

We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
