As the new teaser so eloquently puts it, Seth Rogen is a “permanent teenager.” He also happens to be a really accomplished writer, producer, and actor. All of this combines to prove that Rogen is perhaps the perfect person to revive the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” franchise, as seen in the new film, ‘Mutant Mayhem.’

The teaser doesn’t give us too much in the way of the plot for ‘Mutant Mayhem.’ Really, what you get in the new footage is an establishment of the vibe (for lack of a better term) of what Rogen is going for with this reboot. The animation is very stylized and not nearly as clean as something like a Pixar film. The jokes are silly but not stupid. We also get a heaping helping of the new Turtles and the fact that they actually sound like teenagers and not older men trying to imitate what they believe young people sound like.

However, if you’re not a fan of the ‘TMNT’ franchise and couldn’t really care less about a superhero film with fighting turtles, perhaps the secret weapon of this film will lure you in—the ridiculous all-star cast. In addition to Rogen, the voice cast includes Jackie Chan, Ayo Edebiri, John Cena, Hannibal Buress, Rose Byrne, Ice Cube, Post Malone, Paul Rudd, Maya Rudolph, Natasia Demetriou, and Giancarlo Esposito.
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” hits theaters on August 4. You can watch the teaser below.
