It’s not every day that a small Australian crime indie starring Eric Bana gets a sequel, but here we are. Today, IFC Film unveiled the gripping trailer for their thriller “Force of Nature: The Dry 2,” a sequel to the 2020 Aussie crime film “The Dry.” This heart-pounding sequel, based on Jane Harper’s best-selling novels, stars the aforementioned Bana, reprising his role as Australian Federal Agent Aaron Folk. The follow-up sequel was adapted by the writer/director Robert Connelly (“The Slap”).
The new film finds Bana’s Folk searching for a missing whistleblower after she goes missing on a hike in the Australian wilderness. “Force of Nature: The Dry 2” boasts a supporting cast that includes “Mindhunter” actress Anna Torv, who was recently seen in the first season of HBO’s acclaimed post-apocalypse series “The Last of Us.”
Connelly co-wrote the film with Harper, and below is the film’s official logline:
After receiving a distressing call from an informant, Federal Agents Aaron Falk (Bana) and Carmen Cooper head deep into the Giralang Ranges to investigate the whereabouts of their corporate whistleblower Alice after she mysteriously disappears on a company hiking retreat. The four women who recovered from the bush each seem to be hiding something about their traumatic experiences. As Falk and Cooper close in on the case, they uncover worrying details about the connections between these women and begin to fear for the safety of their missing informant as a storm threatens to halt the search.
Deborra-lee Furness, Robin McLeavy, Sisi Stringer, Lucy Ansell, Jacqueline McKenzie, Jeremy Lindsay-Taylor, Richard Roxburgh, Tony Briggs, and Kenneth Radley also have roles in the pic.
Mark your calendars for May 10, when ‘The Dry 2’ will be available for digital rental. Watch the new trailer for the film below.
