“Tron: Legacy” will be featured at this year’s Comic-Con, along with a panel featuring director Joe Kosinski and actors Jeff Bridges, Garrett Helund, Olivia Wilde, Michael Sheen and Bruce Boxleitner. Comedian Patton Oswalt will moderate, so hopefully these guys won’t take themselves too seriously. There are also said to be surprise guests. Daft Punk composed the music of the film. Hopefully cosplayers can comprehend how blessed they truly are. Only because Daft Punk are reclusive and completely incredible. Not because of this.
Magnolia Pictures has picked up the romantic comedy “Barry Munday,” the first film by Chris D’Arienzo which played at SXSW to fairly positive reviews. It stars Patrick Wilson and the likes of Cybill Shepherd, Malcolm McDowell, Colin Hanks, Billy Dee Williams and the always awesome Judy Greer. Wilson will play an “aspiring suburban playboy who loses his testicles in a confrontation with the irate father of one of his conquests.” The film will hit VOD on August 27th, and will grace theater screens on October 1st.
Ken Russell’s controversial 1971 film “The Devils,” based on the Aldous Huxley novel “The Devils of Loudun,” saw a brief release on iTunes this weekend before being swiftly taken away. The film, starring Oliver Reed and Vanessa Redgrave, has had much trouble finding its way into homes, being banned in many areas upon its release. A DVD release has been slated for the spring, but has since been pulled from the release schedule. Warner Bros. has not said a word, only peculiarly offering the film on iTunes for a short window of time and then taking it down. Testing the waters or did someone accidentally flick a switch? Only time will tell….
EW have revealed that Anthony Anderson and Marielle Jaffe (“Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief”) have joined “Scream 4.” That brings us up to a grand total of eleven characters. And one of them is Anthony Anderson. Scary.
Casey Affleck, again, promises that the Joaquin Phoenix documentary (and his entire escapade) is the real deal. Okay Casey, we believe you. Can we see the damn movie already?
There’s a new trailer for “The American,” though it features most of the stuff in the original trailer, just a lot less of it and and a lot quicker. It looks moody and rather beautiful at times, and hopefully it will own up to the poster’s promise of 70s style American thriller.
