Got a Tip?

‘Tuca & Bertie’ Trailer: Tiffany Haddish & Ali Wong Team With ‘BoJack Horseman’ Team In New Animated Series

Netflix has covered pretty much all genres of TV. There’s horror, thrillers, comedies, and plenty of soapy melodramas. But you know what the streaming service was desperately lacking? An animated series following two 30-year-old female anthropomorphic birds. Well, fear not! Netflix is here to rectify that with the new series “Tuca & Bertie.”

As seen in the first trailer for the series, it’s clear that “Tuca & Bertie” is geared towards those fans of shows like “Broad City,” with its female-focused filthy behavior, and obviously, Netflix’s own “BoJack Horseman,” as the animation and humor is very similar. The ‘BoJack’ comparison is apt considering that Lisa Hanawalt, who worked on the Netflix hit series, has created “Tuca & Bertie.”

The series follows two birds, voiced by Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong, who are both just incredibly hilarious in just about everything they put their name on, as they deal with the normal life problems that 30-year-old birds living in the city deal with. You know, like marriage issues, going to the club, being mocked by younger birds for approaching menopause. The usual bird stuff.

The animated series stars Tiffany Haddish, Ali Wong, and Steven Yeun, alongside some incredible guest actors like Nicole Byer, Richard E. Grant, John Early, Reggie Watts, Tig Notaro, Amber Ruffin, Jermaine Fowler, and Tessa Thompson.

“Tuca & Bertie” will arrive on Netflix on May 3.

Here’s the synopsis:

Tuca & Bertie is an animated comedy series about the friendship between two 30-year-old bird women who live in the same apartment building: Tuca (Tiffany Haddish), a cocky, care-free toucan, and Bertie (Ali Wong), an anxious, daydreaming songbird.
