Uma Thurman Teams With 'Die Hard' Director John McTiernan For Sci-Fi/Action Film 'Tau Ceti 4'

There are very few directors that can claim that they revolutionized a genre. But one could argue that John McTiernan is one of those people. In a matter of a decade, the filmmaker helmed “Predator,” “Die Hard,” “Last Action Hero” (underrated), and “Die Hard with a Vengeance” (the only decent sequel). Not to mention sandwiched in between those was “The Hunt for Red October.”

All things considered, McTiernan had a run in the ‘80s and ‘90s that set the stage for the action genre moving forward. And though he’s been away since 2003, the director is set to step behind the camera yet again and he’s signed Uma Thurman up as his leading lady.

According to ScreenDaily, McTiernan will write and direct “Tau Ceti 4,” a sci-fi/action/thriller that will star Thurman. The story takes place on the fourth planet in the Tau Ceti solar system. The various oligarchs and military thugs that run the planet are put on notice when three strangers, heavily armed, show up and attempt to murder every one of them. Yes, this sort of sounds like a sci-fi version of “John Wick.” And that’s perfectly okay. “Vikings” and “Warcraft” star Travis Fimmel is aboard to star opposite Thurman.

Thurman is, of course, best known for her roles in Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction” and “Kill Bill” films. However, recently, she’s starred in the Netflix drama “Chambers,” as well as films like “The House that Jack Built” and the upcoming “The War with Grandpa,” which also stars Robert De Niro.

There’s no release date set for the film, but the project is one of the many that will be sold to distributors at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival next week.
