Here’s some real evidence to signify the kind of urgent, silent, but deadly power of Kathryn Bigelow’s “The Hurt Locker,” in theaters June 26, and as we just wrote in our SXSW Preview piece, the film is fantastic.
This is part of the clip we were shown at New York Comic Con, and we wrote, “the intense and nerve-wracking tension of Jeremy Renner dismantling a gigantic car bomb were easily the best footage we saw all weekend. It goes a long way to demonstrate the prowess of Bigelow’s direction and editing that almost no action happened throughout the entire scene, but watching the experts try and defuse explosives in the middle of a hot zone was riveting stuff.”
Just from this clip, you can see the beautiful cinematography, rugged work by Renner, and just the basic feel of the film and his cocky, hot-headed, adrenaline-junkie lead character.
