Watch: Pierce Brosnan Sells The Best/Worst Drug Ever In Trailer For ‘Urge’

After decades of playing the charismatic lead and handsome good guy, Pierce Brosnan is finally ready to indulge his bad side. And you can see a little bit of the madness unravel in the first trailer for his newest action-thriller, “Urge.”

The former 007 superstar plays a drug dealer known solely as The Man, a slick-haired, sunglass-wearing smooth criminal who gives some unsuspecting 20/30-something New Yorkers (Justin Chatwin, Danny Masterson, Ashley Greene and Alexis Knapp) the trip of a lifetime — in more ways than one. When they head off on vacation in tropical paradise they’re given a chance to try a rare, experimental new high. But there’s a catch: they can only have it once. There’s no going back for seconds. And after the best night of their lives, these kids are hooked. So like a bunch of junkies, they ignore the advice and find themselves going back for another round. All except for Chatwin’s character, who soon finds that he is the only one that hasn’t descended into a state of madness amongst the group. Now, only The Man can possibly bring his friends back to sobriety, but answers are not going to come by easily. Or cheap. And what was meant to be a little slice of heaven has turned into the trip from hell.

Aaron Kaufman, a producer behind recent Robert Rodriguez joints like “Machete Kills” and “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For,” makes his directorial debut with a screenplay by Jerry Shahl (“Bad Boys II”). And while it remains to be seen how well Kaufman equips himself on his own, Brosnan at least is having a ball with this darker, slimier character. This trailer highlights the kind of looney, wacky, uncuffed performance that might make Nicolas Cage blush. It’s exciting to see Brosnan channel a side we haven’t seen from him before, but whether or not it works out remains to be seen when “Urge” hits theaters and on-demand on June 3rd. In the meantime, however, indulge yourself with the first trailer above, via Yahoo! Movies.
