Video Game Adaptation 'Kane & Lynch' Kicked Back To Life With Gerard Butler, Vin Diesel Sought To Co-Star

Do people still play “Kane & Lynch“? We have no idea, but Hollywood has been hellbent on making a movie out of the franchise for years. Way, way back in 2010The Cooler” and “Running Scared” helmer Wayne Kramer was going to direct the movie that had Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx attached, but it never materialized. Then F. Gary Gray (“The Italian Job“) slid into the director’s chair but still nothing happened and the project sorta faded away. But Gray has hung onto the job and now there’s fresh life as an old pal of his is coming on board to star.

The suddenly resurgent Gerard Butler, riding high off the success of “Olympus Has Fallen” (which has already spawned a sequel) is in talks to reteam with his “Law Abiding Citizen” director for the flick. Even more, Millenium Films want Vin Diesel to play Lynch to his Kane, with THR noting that an offer is out. Anyway, the movie, which has a script from Skip Woods (“X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” “A Good Day To Die Hard“) and Kyle Ward (“Machete Kills“) will find married (!?) schizo killer Lynch trying to save his wife and daughter, by teaming up with newly sprung death row inmate Kane to find some treasure or something in an adventure that takes them to Los Angeles, Japan and Cuba. International markets, huzzah!

No word yet on when this might film or even if this iteration will come together, but it sounds like a pretty brainless, sleazy little actioner. Are these characters that need big screen dimensions? Let us know below. [THR
