Vin Diesel Says 'Furious 7' Ending Is The "Best Moment In Cinematic History"

Close your eyes and imagine what you believe is the best scene in cinematic history. Was it the shower scene is “Psycho?” Perhaps the final shootout in “Scarface?” Maybe you’re a bit of a geek and love the “I am your father” scene from “Empire Strikes Back?” Or it’s probably a hundred other scenes that could easily be listed amongst the very best. Well, if you didn’t say the end of “Furious 7,” then you’re absolutely wrong, according to Vin Diesel.

In a new interview with NME, Diesel talked about what it was like filming the end scene of “Furious 7,” which featured the ‘Fast & Furious’ sendoff of Paul Walker after the actor’s untimely passing. And not only does the actor feel that the scene is one of the best of the franchise, but he believes that it’s the best moment in cinematic history.

“I didn’t want anyone to use the tragedy as a story plot,” said Diesel. “It was so important to me…It was a very, very tough moment. But there was some solace in the fact that we were able to protect from the natural whim of a producer or anyone to say, ‘Well now you’re going to go avenge the character,’ and use it as a plot and we were able to do something so beautiful and so classy.”

He continued, “It might be the best moment in cinematic history. Not just in my career but in cinematic history. Men around the world—everyone was able to cry—but men around the planet for the first time in history were able to cry together.”

Now, you may think that those words are taken out of context and clearly Diesel was somehow talking humorously, but watch the interview for yourself below, and you’ll see that the actor is deadly serious and almost choked up when he says those words. So, even if we may not agree with him, it’s hard to doubt his sincerity.

If you want to check out the continuing adventures of Dom and Co., “F9” is now scheduled to arrive in theaters on April 2, 2021.
