At one point, Vince Vaughn was really trying to line up some serious movies. In 2012, his name got linked to the thriller “The Risk Agent,” the Randall Wallace-penned “Gunslingers” and the action flick “Triple Time.” But maybe folks really just want to see him quip and be a hilarious jackass, because that’s what he does so well, and it seems the actor is realizing this too.
In the past week, Vaughn has lined up an untitled family comedy at Universal, and “Business Trip” with production companies New Regency and Escape Artist. Plot details on the former aren’t being revealed just yet but it’s being penned by Brian Gatewood and Alex Tanaka, the dudes behind David Gordon Green‘s “The Sitter,” so you can probably guess what to expect. As for the latter it’s a “Planes, Trains & Automobiles” style comedy about a businessman whose European trip goes awry. Steve Conrad (“The Weather Man,” “The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty“) is writing that one.
So yeah, seems like comfortable stuff for Vaughn, even if he might want to be blowing things up or trying his hand at drama instead. His next flick, “The Internship,” arrives June 7th. [Deadline/The Wrap]
