'Vivarium' First Look: Jesse Eisenberg & Imogen Poots Raise An Otherworldly Baby In A Terrible Subdivision In New Thriller

There’s really nothing that can prepare you for the stress and excitement that comes with buying your first house. You walk into vacant homes and begin to picture what it’s going to look like with all your stuff strewn about. You imagine the paint you’ll use on the walls, and what renovations you may have to make. But in the new film “Vivarium,” the process of buying a house turns complicated and otherworldly for a young couple.

As seen in the first look image from the new film (via EW), “Vivarium” stars Jesse Eisenberg and Imogen Poots as the couple in question, as they hold a naked baby and look like they’ve been just finished with escaping a Michael Bay-esque explosion, with soot and whatnot all over their faces. In one image, you can see everything you need to know about the plot of the thriller.

“Vivarium” is said to follow the couple as they make plans to buy their first home. On the advice of a mysterious real estate agent (obviously, the worst kind of real estate agent), the couple moves into a new housing development. Once there, Poots and Eisenberg’s characters find themselves in a maze of identical homes and raising what is described as an “otherworldly child.”

It’s clear from the image, things don’t go so well for the two people and the baby.

“Vivarium” comes from director Lorcan Finnegan. He is probably best known for his work on the 2016 film “Without Name,” which debuted at that year’s Toronto International Film Festival. The new sci-fi/thriller is based on a story that Finnegan developed with screenwriter Garret Shanley.

No word on when “Vivarium” will be released, but we’re definitely intrigued.
