While the past few years has seen Hollywood serve up a buffet of movies that tend to use found footage and/or jump scares to attempt to thrill viewers around Halloween (and they’ll do it again with "Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension"), the R-rated "Crimson Peak" promises something that moves to its own distinct, gothic rhythm. A few new clips have arrived to provide a further peek at what Guillermo del Toro has whipped together.
Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska, and Charlie Hunnam star in the picture in which a house seemingly filled with dread and bad vibes forms the backdrop of the spooky tale. And it’s worth remembering that in order to secure the rating he wanted, del Toro gave up all of his back end and points in his contract to see his vision through. Whether or not it pays off we’ll find out soon.
"Crimson Peak" opens on October 16th.
