Watch: Christian Bale Gets Biblical In First Trailer For Ridley Scott’s ‘Exodus: Gods & Kings’

Christian Bale, Exodus

Filmmaker Ridley Scott is 76 years old, but you wouldn’t know it from his prodigious output. He’s got 22 features under his belt, and between 2000-2014, he’ll have directed twelve feature-length projects (that’s 1.16 films a year if you wanna get nerdy about it). “Filmmaking for him must be like breathing.” Joel Edgerton told Entertainment Weekly about his “Exodus: Gods And Kings” director. “He’s got all the passion of a young filmmaker,” the lead actor Christian Bale said. “He’s not jaded.”

Scott’s latest, the aforementioned "Exodus: Gods & Kings" is an account of Moses’ hand in leading the Israelite slaves out of Egypt. “He’s one of the most fascinating characters that I’ve ever studied,” Bale told the magazine of playing Moses. “I think Achilles is described as the most passionate man alive but I think Moses would give him a very good run for his money.”

But is it this tale simply retold as an action film? Well, kinda. A new trailer has arrived and it’s quite bombastic. That said, with a December 12th, Oscar-friendly release date, it’s probably akin to "Gladiator," a swords and sandals drama with an action bent. "Exodus" also stars Aaron Paul, Sigourney Weaver, Ben Kingsley, John Turturro, Indira Varma (Ellaria Sand from "Game Of Thrones") and María Valverde (who some might remember from "Cracks," the 2009 indie directed by Ridley’s daughter Jordan Scott).
