Can’t believe it’s been 22 years since “Freaky Friday” hit theaters? Yeah, well, it’s true, and thanks to Jamie Lee Curtis‘ late-career renaissance, Disney thinks it’s prime time to revisit the world of the early ’00s classic with a new sequel.

Curtis and Lindsay Lohan return in “Freakier Friday” as Tess and Anna Coleman, who once swapped bodies in and had an odd-couple bonding session in the process. Now, decades laters, it’s gonna happen again, but with Tess now a grandmother and Anna with a daughter, this switcheroo is bound to be a lot more complicated…
Here’s an official synopsis for “Freakier Friday,” courtesy of Disney:
In the film, Curtis and Lohan reprise their roles as Tess and Anna Coleman. The story picks up years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) endured an identity crisis. Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.
Along with Curtis and Lohan, “Freakier Friday” also stars Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto, Mark Harmon, and Chad Michael Murray. Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Ryan Malgarini, Lucille Soong, and Rosalind Chao also star. Jordan E. Cooper, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Vanessa Bayer, and Dakota Lohan round out the main cast.
Nisha Ganatra directs a screenplay by Jordan Weiss, based on characters created by Mary Rodgers. Kristen Burr, Andrew Gunn, and Curtis produce “Freakier Friday,” with Nathan Kelly, Ann Marie Sanderlin, and Lohan on board as executive producers.
