Got a Tip?

Watch: Cruddy Bootleg Of ‘A Dangerous Method’ Trailer Makes Us Yearn For The Real Thing

Has Sony Pictures Classics Picked Up The Film?

blank
No, this isn’t like the “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” red band trailer which was (fake?) leaked to the interwebs and got a gajillion hits. Nope, this is a legitimately shitty capture of the trailer for David Cronenberg‘s “A Dangerous Method,” seemingly captured on an iPhone which immediately cuts off the sides of the frame with some pretty bad sound. Even in such rough shape, it gives a pretty good idea of the tone of the film and honestly, has us eager for a proper version in HD.

Based on Christopher Hampton‘s acclaimed 2002 play “The Talking Cure” and starring the very promising trio of Michael Fassbender, Keira Knightley and Viggo Mortensen, the film will center on the relationship between Carl Jung (Fassbender) and Russian-Jewish patient Sabina Spielrein (Knightley), which ultimately causes a rift between Jung and mentor Sigmund Freud (Mortensen), but also catalyses strong findings in regards to Jungian psychoanalysis. Vincent Cassel and Sarah Gadon (who also has a role in Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis“) co-star.

The film will premiere at the Venice Film Festival in August but no release date has been set. Yet. A helpful reader recently pointed out to us that the website adangerousmethodfilm.com automatically redirects to the Sony Pictures Classics homepage. Have they picked up the film? All signs seem to point in that direction but nothing has yet been announced, nor have SPE returned any of our email inquiries. So for now, deal with this crap version of the trailer below before it gets yanked. Hopefully a crisp and clear copy is on the way soon.
