Watch: First Clip Of Anna Kendrick In Low-Budget Musical 'The Last Five Years'

The last Five Years, Anna Kendrick, Richard LaGraveneseWe’re big fans of Anna Kendrick here at the Playlist. But then, what kind of monster isn’t a big fan of Anna Kendrick? She’s smart, funny, honest, outspoken and enormously talented, and even the occasional "Rapture-Palooza" can’t cause too much of a problem. The actress is wildly busy, with seven movies released, or due for release, this year, from serial killer dark comedy "The Voices" to this Christmas’ mega-budget musical "Into The Woods," and will continue her path to world domination with next summer’s sequel "Pitch Perfect."

But first, she’s got another musical, stage adaptation, "The Last Five Years," directed by Richard LaGravenese, and co-starring Broadway star Jeremy Jordan. The film, which deconstructs a love affair between an actress and a novelist, just premiered at TIFF, and we should have our review for you in the next day or two. But to tide you over, EW has the first clip from the movie, and Jordan barely gets a look; this is very much Kendrick’s show.

We’ll confess that we’re not immediately taken by the music here, but that’s true of a lot of modern musical theater. But there’s enough here to make us intrigued for the whole, especially as it’s pretty rare to see a low-budget movie take on this genre. Radius-TWC just picked the movie up and are planning to release it on Valentine’s Day next year, where it’ll go head to head with the slightly less wholesome "Fifty Shades Of Grey." Check out the clip below.
