Watch: Haunting First Trailer For Denis Villeneuve's Creepy Psychothriller 'Enemy' Starring Jake Gyllenhaal

Enemy

How much do we like “Enemy“? Well, you can read our praise right on the top of the new poster for the Denis Villeneuve-directed, Jake Gyllenhaal-starring thriller, or just pop on over and check out our A-grade review. Either way, if you’ve been reading the site, you know this one we’ve been blowing the trumpet for over the past few months.

Based on the novel by José Saramago and featuring a solid supporting cast, including Mélanie Laurent, Isabella Rossellini and Sarah Gadon, the film tells the story of a sullen, increasingly paranoid teacher who believes he’s found his exact doppelganger and starts to try and figure out who exactly this person is. And as you might guess, it’s not the easiest movie to put into words. “Whenever I’ve tried to describe it I’ve always said, ‘I wonder if you would even call it a movie,’ ” Jake Gyllenhaal told us last fall. “In a way you would call it an experience.”

Shot before Villeneuve and Gyllenhaal’s “Prisoners” collaboration, the movie first debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, and we already placed “Enemy” high on our list of Best Movies Of 2014 We’ve Already Seen. “Enemy” also features a haunting score by up-and-coming composers Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans (“Martha Marcy May Marlene“), and that soundtrack is due March 11th via Milan Records.  “Enemy” itself opens in limited release on March 14th, but will be available exclusively first on DirecTV on Feb 6th.
