Is this the year that directorial passion projects get kicked in the junk? Andrew Stanton is already feeling the heat after his dream project "John Carter" opened to both a dismal box office and reviews, and next month, another long in the works pet project will arrive on screens, and it too has dreadful pre-release buzz. Possibly even worse than "John Carter."
The Farrelly Brothers will finally unleash "The Three Stooges" on the planet and holy shit, this just looks unbearable. We gotta hand it to them, sticking with the broad slapstick style is a big gamble, but it doesn't look like it's paying off. This new international trailer for the film serves up even more footage and while it lacks the "celeb" cameos of its U.S. counterpart which included Kate Upton and uh, Snooki, this focuses right on the comedy instead. And it ain't funny. Fart jokes, guys getting knocked in the head and bitten in the balls rule the day, and while that works on the vintage show in a compressed TV format (aided by nostalgia), blown up here and put in a contemporary setting it plays badly. Maybe within the editing of the movie it might work better, but we're not holding our breath. This is just plain obnoxious, which shouldn't be a surprise coming from the Farrellys, but they seemed to have outdone themselves here.
Anyway, you can see Larry, Curly and Moe on April 13th. Watch below. [Vlicious]
