One TV show-turned-movie and another sequel. That pretty much speaks to the cinematic climate these days, but at least one of them looks like it's going to be a ton of fun.
And as you guessed, we're talking about "21 Jump Street," whose early trailers have exceeded expectations, promising something far beyond the drama that once starred Johnny Depp oh those many years ago (and yes, he will be making a cameo). A new international trailer has dropped and it shows our leads, Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, breaking the undercover rules set out for them as they try to sniff out a drug dealer in a high school. The extra scene with Ellie Kemper from "The Office" is a nice touch, as is the look at Hill protecting his identity in a shoe store. This one has screened early for a few select folks and word has been very good, so we're ready to get silly. "21 Jump Street" rolls out on March 16th.
On the other end of the spectrum is "American Reunion." Michelle, Stifler, Oz, Jessica, Jim, Heather, Nadia, Vicky, Kevin and Finch are back for their 10-year high school reunion, except they're all grown up with kids or have hot wives. Still, the boys can't seem to keep their hormones in check. A new U.K. trailer has dropped that, like the original films, is intermittently charming though we're wondering how we'll be able to sit through this when reruns of its predecessor on cable can barely hold our attention. If anything, this new trailer confirms that Stifler still really likes boobs. "American Reunion" opens on April 6th. [TrailerAddict/MSN]
