Watch: Jack Black Goes Supernatural In First Trailer For 'Goosebumps'

GoosebumpsIf you spent any time as a kid at the library, you undoubtedly had a phase of reading nothing but R.L. Stine‘s "Goosebumps" series. Having already spawned a TV series, countless merchandise, and more, this was more than just a book franchise, it was literary (and spooky) coming-of-age for many. However, how will those fans feel about the a movie adaptation? Well, they’re about to find out.

Jack Black leads a cast that also includes Jillian Bell, Amy Ryan, Ken Marino, and Kumail Nanjiani in "Goosebumps," with the story following an author whose creations on the page suddenly go running amuck in real life. And yes, this has the approval of Stine himself, but don’t expect his signature cliffhanger ending.

"There’s a lot of twists and shocks. That’s all I really like in things, I like surprises, and there are a lot in the movie, but you can’t really do that kind of chapter ending," Stine told ComingSoon in June. "The movie does have that combination of fun and scary, they really did achieve that, so I’m very happy about that. I’ve seen it two-and-a-half times. They’re still working on it. Now I hear Danny Elfman is doing the music. They were using fake music previously, now I heard they’ve got the real music in. That’s gonna be great!

Directed by Rob Letterman ("Shark Tale," "Gulliver’s Travels"), "Goosebumps" opens on October 16th.
