“This is one hell of a whirlwind,” Kevin Hart told USA Today about his upcoming comedy “The Wedding Ringer.” “It’s a modern-day bromance with two guys who feed off each other really well.” And that’s pretty much all you need to know. Well that, and the fact that yes, Hart continues to be an unstoppable comedy hit machine, and with “Think Like A Man Too” getting set to top the box office this weekend, Sony is wise enough to already start the promo machine for his next movie. Once that isn’t coming out until next year…
So here we go with “The Wedding Ringer,” which is basically Kevin Hart’s “Hitch,” and instead of Kevin James, we’ve got Josh Gad. “I run a business where I’m a great best man for the right price,” Hart explains. “But I do what has never been done before in this case. I make this guy look like one of the most amazing people in the world.” We gotta admit, it’s a dopey premise but one rife with comic possibilities, something co-writer and director Jeremy Garelick will be mining on his feature debut.
