It’s that time of year again folks, the time when the temperature rises and every weekend sees the studios slug it out for the top of the box office. Later this month, on the same day no less, two wildly different films open opposite one another and now the studios have released two new clips to lure you to theater.
First up is M. Night Shyamalan’s “After Earth,” which of course stars the real-life father and son duo of Will Smith and Jaden Smith as a father and son that crash land on Earth thousands of years after humans leave. The new clip looks like it comes from the first act and it’s pretty dour indeed. Though we hope the filmmaker can bounce back from his creative tailspin over the past few years, those weird accents the Smiths put on aren’t inspiring any confidence.
Next up is Louis Leterrier’s “Now You See Me,” which follows a gang of Las Vegas magicians outsmarting authorities and robbing banks right in front of everyone’s noses. The cast is pretty stacked with folks like Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco,Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Mark Ruffalo and Melanie Laurent. The new clip from the film showcases one of their daring — in the sense that they announce their crime to all in attendance — robberies. Could this be a sleeper surprise?
“Now You See Me” and “After Earth” both hit theaters on May 31st. Check out both clips below.
