Watch: New Trailer For Bobcat Goldthwait's Horror Film 'Willow Creek'

nullIn his directorial career, Bobcat Goldthwait hasn’t shied away from dealing with controversial issues like bestiality (“Sleeping Dogs Lie”) or everything that’s wrong with America (“God Bless America”), but this year’s release of “Willow Creek” sees Goldthwait operating in a genre few would have expected from him: found-footage horror. The first trailer has dropped online and we have it below for your viewing pleasure.

Set around a couple determined to find evidence of Bigfoot, the horror film seems to be very much in the vein of “The Blair Witch Project,” complete with interactions with weird locals and being lost in the woods. At just over two minutes, it’s hard to grasp how effective the finished film will be but it’s clear that Goldthwait is going all in and taking the genre seriously — it’s no horror comedy. He’s also following the ‘Blair Witch’ playbook by using a cast of unknowns.

The film doesn’t have a distributor yet but with a bow at the Fantasia International Film Festival next month — and with Halloween just a few months away — we wouldn’t be surprised if this ends up with a VOD release just in time for October. Watch the trailer below. [Bleeding Cool via Badass Digest]
