Watch: Sam Worthington, Anthony Hopkins & Jim Sturgess Are 'Kidnapping Freddy Heineken' In Trailer For Crime Thriller

Kidnapping Freddy Heineken

Even if you have never heard about the film before, the title “Kidnapping Freddy Heineken” should tell you everything you need to know. Freddy Heineken was chairman and CEO of Heineken International, a brewing company that surely everyone is familiar with. And yes, the man really was kidnapped. In 1983, five criminals kidnapped Heineken and demanded a hefty ransom, 35 million Dutch guilders to be exact (equivalent to 16 million Euros). Naturally, a story like this demands to be seen on film and director Daniel Alfredson (“The Girl Who Played With Fire”) is thankfully up for the task. An international trailer for the film has recently popped up online and you can check it out below.

“Kidnapping Freddy Heineken” has quite the cast. Sam Worthington, Jim Sturgess, and Ryan Kwanten play three of the five kidnappers while Anthony Hopkins, as you might expect, plays the title character. The kidnapping resulted in the largest ever ransom paid for an individual and the film goes into detail with the planning, execution, and aftermath of this notorious event. The film’s currently in post-production and there’s no word, as of yet, about its eventual release date. But this is one film you should definitely keep an eye on in the next few months.
