Watch: New Trailers For Season 3 Of ‘Treme’ & ‘Boardwalk Empire’ With First Footage Of Bobby Cannavale

nullAs “Veep” and “Girls” led successful seasons this past summer with their well-drawn characters and storylines, HBO is ready to plunge viewers back into pure atmosphere with the third seasons of its reliable recent shows, and we've got two new trailers for you to whet your appetite as the fall TV season beckons in the distance.

Soaked throughout every frame in the music and traditions of New Orleans, “Treme” has overcome a slight over-emphasis on that ambience to become a truly compelling work of art from David Simon. For the most part, its characters avoid the trappings of Post-Katrina political debate, and instead let its issues flow naturally into the story, which you can catch glimpses of in the newest sneak peek. As Antoine (Wendell Pierce) and LaDonna (Khandi Alexander), along with Janette (Kim Dickens), and Davis (Steve Zahn), navigate the thrills and frustrations of their native city, it looks to be a fantastic continuation when the series returns September 23rd.

The characters of “Boardwalk Empire” have all been affected by the major shift that occurred at the end of the second season (which will remain unspoiled), but needless to say from the latest trailer, the repercussions look to be severe. The most dangerous inclusion to the series' third season will be Bobby Cannavale, who joins the cast as Gyp Rosetti, a ruthless gangster eager to battle Nucky (Steve Buscemi) over his share in the bootlegging business. Series regulars Kelly Macdonald, Michael K. Williams, Michael Shannon and Jack Huston all make appearances as well, and point to another finely tense return for the show when it premieres Sept. 16th at 9PM.
