This weekend, the McConnaisance, as it has come to be known, could be capped off with an Oscar win for the actor for his terrific turn in “Dallas Buyer’s Club.” But for anyone who has been watching the actor over the past couple years, they’ve known he’s been turning out one great performance after another in a series of movies. But with the golden statue looming on the horizon for Matthew McConaughey, there is probably no better time than to sit down and take stock with the actor.
And that’s just what the Film Society of Lincoln Center did recently, taking 50 minutes to sit down with him. And the conversation naturally covers his Oscar-nominated film, as well as the HBO hit “True Detective.” About the latter he reveals it was a lengthy six-month shoot, and he was concerned about ensuring Rust Cohle would be dynamic enough in the series. (And btw, he’s been watching it week by week just like everyone else). He also talks about researching roles, and why he chooses tthe projects he does.
