Rumors have been quiet recently surrounding “Star Wars: Episode 7,” but once the press gauntlet begins soon for “Star Trek Into Darkness,” and J.J. Abrams gets inevitably grilled about his plans, we’ll have plenty more updates. But until then, leave it to Patton Oswalt — who, as fans know, is a man who knows his way around the “Star Wars” universe — to awesomely and hilariously weigh in on ‘Episode 7’ with a nearly genius, 8-minute-long outtake from “Parks and Recreation.”
Basically, he turns what’s supposed to be simple scene of him filibustering a town hall meeting in Pawnee, into an awesome lengthy pitch about what Disney should do with the franchise. The producers wisely keep the cameras running, and don’t cut for a second, with Oswalt starting with the reasonable suggestion of letting Brian De Palma write the opening text scroll for ‘Episode 7’ (he rewrote and shortened the crawl for the first “Star Wars”). But from there he goes off in a pretty amazing, rambling Marvel crossover idea that mixes in Thanos and Tony Stark, along with a beheaded Chewbecca, an emotionally shattered Han Solo and more. And don’t even get him started on who the real first tier The Avengers are. This basically rules, so watch it below. [AV Club]
