In case Eugene Jarecki's recent documentary "The House I Live In" didn't get the message across: the war on drugs isn't working and is penalizing people with dranconian laws that do nothing to stop the trafficking and use of narcotics. But the war on drugs hasn't met the likes of Dwayne Johnson.
Coming off like a hammy hybrid of "Law Abiding Citizen" and "Walking Tall," the first trailer for "Snitch" is here, which boasts a tag that it's based on a true story to hopefully distract you from how much of a B-movie the whole thing is. The Rock leads the pic as your average blue collar dad whose son is facing ten years in prison after being wrongfully convicted on a drug charge. The justice system doens't work (obvs), so he decides to take matters in his own hands, going undercover and squaring off against an array of dudes with elaborate facial hair (Barry Pepper, Benjamin Bratt) and Michael K. Williams doing Omar from "The Wire," basically.
Things explode all in an effort to deliver a message of some kind. Write your congressman? "Snitch" opens on February 22nd.
