While summer is the season to hit the multiplex for the most sensational big screen entertainment you'll see all year, HBO is giving you at least one reason to stay at home on Sunday nights: Aaron Sorkin's latest series "The Newsroom."
A brand new trailer has arrived for the show and it's increasingly looking like a major TV comeback for the Academy Award-winning writer, after his last network effort "Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip" fizzeld out after a single season. Another behind-the-scenes tale, this show follows beleagured ACN news anchor Will (Jeff Daniels), who faces a major change when his co-anchor bails for another show and takes most of the staff with him. With the pressure on him to carry the show and deliver ratings, while trying to get along with the staff, sparks fly. So far, this looks great — hilarious, politically charged and carrying some serious dramatic weight. All told it looks like a home run for all involved, and certainly it's the best role Daniels has had in a long time.
A pretty fantastic cast rounds things out, including Emily Mortimer, Alison Pill, Dev Patel, Sam Waterston, Jane Fonda and more. "The Newsroom" premieres on June 24th. We can't wait.
